Common Questions
You might be wondering...
Do you take insurance?
Yes. I accept insurance through Headway for individual therapy. You can verify your coverage directly through their platform. Private pay is also available at $150 per session.
How do I know if my insurance covers therapy?
The easiest way is to visit my Headway profile and enter your insurance information; it will show you right away what's covered. You can also call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask specifically: "Do I have mental health or behavioral health benefits, and what is my copay for outpatient therapy?"
Is it really okay for me to go to therapy?
Yes. Full stop. There is a long history, especially for Black women, of being told to pray it away, push through it, or keep family business inside the family. Therapy is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a sign that you have decided you matter. You are allowed to take up space, ask for help, and invest in yourself. You have been taking care of everyone else. This is for you.
How long does therapy take?
It depends entirely on what you're working through and what your goals are. Most people start feeling a meaningful shift within the first 8–12 sessions. Some stay longer because the work deepens. We check in regularly on what's feeling right for you.
What's the difference between individual therapy and The Sanctuary?
Individual therapy is one-on-one clinical work focused on your specific history, patterns, and goals. The Sanctuary is a group experience focused on shared understanding and the particular power of being in a room with other women who already get it. Both are meaningful. They work well together.

I don't even know if what I'm going through is serious enough for therapy. What would we even talk about?
You don't have to know what to say before you come. You don't have to have the words, the story, or the reason figured out. Some of the most important sessions start with silence, and that's okay. The space is yours. We go at your pace. If all you can say is "I don't know where to start," that is enough to begin.
What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't work?
That's more common than you think, and it usually means the fit wasn't right, not that therapy doesn't work for you. I'd love to talk about what your experience was like and whether what I offer would feel different.
How do I know if The Sanctuary is right for me?
If you are a woman who has spent most of her life caring for others, feels isolated even when surrounded by people, and has never quite found a room where someone understands without a long explanation, it was made for you. Reach out, and we'll talk through it.
The first step is just a conversation.
