When the Music Stopped
I expected the fast to challenge my eating habits.
I didn’t expect it to challenge my playlist.
This month I committed to a soul fast—one that included more than just food. I wanted to detox what I was feeding my mind and spirit too. That meant choosing not to watch certain TV shows, limiting social media, and yes… giving up the music I used to vibe to.
Let me be honest: I thought this would be the easy part.
But the moment the music stopped, I realized how much I’d been using it to avoid silence.
The songs I once turned to for energy or escape no longer aligned. They started to feel off. And silence? Silence forced me to hear myself.
That’s when the soul fast got real.
Because when you remove the noise, the truth speaks louder.
I started journaling every time I heard a negative voice in my head—and releasing those thoughts to God instead of entertaining them.
I’m not perfect. But I’m present.
And in this season, that’s enough.
Healing is sacred when it’s shared.
