Faith Over Fear: When Obedience Meets Timing
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but did you know it’s okay—and actually professional—to follow up after a job interview? I knew this, but the fear of rejection had me second-guessing everything.
Almost three weeks had passed since my interview. It went really well, and I knew I had the experience and heart to make an impact in the role. But I still hadn’t heard back. I kept thinking, Should I follow up? Would it seem desperate? What if they already chose someone else?
I went back and forth in my head until I finally just paused.
I had the most honest and intimate conversation with God. I laid it all out—my hopes, my plans, my fears—and simply said, “God, if this is for me, let me hear back sooner than later.” I let it go.
Then real life kicked in—mom life. I had completely lost track of time and forgot I needed to take the kids to school. My daughter walks in like, “Mommy, we were supposed to leave 10–15 minutes ago!” I laughed so hard because it was like God said, You’ve done your part. Now go live your life.
I got to work, and by 12 PM… the acceptance letter was in my inbox.
I almost cried.
It wasn’t just about the job—it was about what happens when we choose obedience over anxiety, when we pray and release, when we act in faith instead of waiting in fear.
This moment reminded me that God hears us the first time. He just wants to know—are we willing to trust His timing more than our need for control?
So if you’re waiting for a door to open… move in faith. Trust that what’s for you will never pass you by. And sometimes, the only thing standing between you and your breakthrough is one bold act of obedience.
Faith over fear, always.
With grace and truth,
Rissa
