I used to be the type to collect red flags like they were receipts.
A lie here, an inconsistency there, a “maybe I misunderstood” moment—until one day, my spirit was drowning under the weight of all the evidence I had gathered.
Looking back, I wasn’t really “collecting” evidence.
I was delaying the inevitable.
I was hoping that the good moments would cancel out the truth I already knew deep down.
But healing has taught me something powerful:
One truth is enough.
If the first thing I see, hear, or feel in my spirit is out of alignment with God’s peace—it’s enough to make a decision. My discernment doesn’t need a pile of proof.
Recently, this lesson has shown up in so many ways.
I left a conversation with someone and realized my spirit was unsettled—not because of what was said, but because of what wasn’t. The silence spoke volumes. The first truth was already there, but the old me would’ve stuck around for more “proof” before I let go.
This time? I left the table without guilt.
And that’s what growth looks like for me now—trusting that the first nudge from God is not a suggestion. It’s a direction.
It’s not my job to keep testing a warning until it becomes a wound.
If you’re like I was—waiting until the evidence piles up before you make a move—remember this: Your peace is proof.
One truth is enough.
