Take off the Mask
You can never truly snatch the mask off all at once—because it’s multilayered.
There are too many pieces, people, places, and things attached to that old mask.
If you tried to rip it away in a single moment, it would break you wide open in ways you may not be ready for.
I’ve been removing this mask piece by piece since 2022, and let me tell you—it never really gets easier.
Some parts do. Others… don’t.
I’m tired.
Tired of slowly letting go of who I thought I was—or who I pretended to be just to survive or to please others.
And the hardest part?
Other people keep trying to drag the old mask back onto my face.
Crossing boundaries that no longer exist.
Pushing me to play roles I’ve outgrown.
Standing firm in a new boundary feels like spiritual warfare some days.
It’s a test.
A chance to show God that I’m ready for the next level.
And yes—sometimes that process brings me to tears.
That pruning phase is no joke.
It rips away the old so the real me can finally breathe.
But here’s the truth:
The pruning phase never truly ends.
You prune at ground level to rise to level one.
At level one, you prune again to reach level two.
And if you slip—because you’re human—you may find yourself back at the start, fixing what you ignored, learning what you resisted, shedding what you clung to.
And still…we prune.
We all do.
Life be life-ing.
And when it does?
You’re pruning.
Maybe it’s your season of stillness.
Maybe it’s your season of learning.
Maybe it’s your season of growth.
Me?
I’m pruning.
✨ What season are you in?
